This book sucked me in from the beginning and has kept my attention throughout. I have only got about halfway through, but the stories and illustrations that Ed gives for each of his points easily allows the individual to be put in the same situation that is in the book. My wife has even thoroughly enjoyed the book as well.
In some senses, this book is a "gap-filling" one. All over the world, we, christians tend to see ourselves as somebodies who cant do anything, that we are good for nothing! But is is only the devil's trick. However, God wants to teach us the He is everything and we are nothing, but on the other hand the Lord did everything for this "nothing". So we do have a value! What is really hard is to find the road in the middle where we do not rely on our own "power" but God, but neither do we think ourselves as somebody unvaluable!
This book can help a lot to find this road in the middle! It is really great!

Here is why I like this book. IT's REAL. It's not a bunch of spiritual mumbo jumbo. It's not a bunch of words I can't pronounce. And it's not theory. Ed Rush brings the Biblical message to real life with personal combat stories and analogies. It's good. It's really good... And inspires me to want to be better husband and overall better man.
Fantastic book! Far exceeded my expectations and was absolutely perfect for the days we are living in today!!! Ed Rush hit it out of the park with this one. I plan on giving some copies to some of my friends.
After coming through an (election) season where we are constantly bombarded with messages about what we should oppose, fear and reject, Warrior is a healthy reminder about what the battle really is. It's a battle FOR something greater. Ed Rush opens the book with an exhortation to model Christ in this aspect he fought to win. After calling the reader to fight for his (or her) faith, family, future, Rush lays out a clear and simple battle plan. Lots of really great examples - some bite size, some more substantial - to help bring clarity to a process that can often be confusing and complicated. Rush's theology leans toward the conservative side and some of his supporting cultural texts are perhaps too familiar. (Is there a Christian leadership book that doesn't reference William Wallace & Braveheart?) But in the end, the book reads like a really important, and hope filled, conversation with a great story-teller. I could easily imagine enjoying some cheese-fries and a pint (or two) of beer with Ed Rush, a well and good Warrior
I have never seen anyone explain Bible stories so compellingly and make them come alive like this. Rush has put new perspective for me on many familiar Bible stories from my childhood . The book unapologetically has a muscular Christian tone, but I found that a very welcome relief to the common secular depiction of Jesus as a wimp, a wuss, or merely a "good teacher". The author's background as a fighter pilot is interesting and intriguing to me, because I've never seen a book like this written by someone with a real-world warrior's perspective.. The section about staying "on mission" and on-purpose was outstanding. I had wondered if this book might be more "one for the boys", but my girlfriend read the book before I did, and she loved it.
A great way to fire up the afterburners on identifying personal purpose in your life.
Straight forward, direct and well thought out view of living a meaningful Christian life. Specifically a life that embodies concepts that are obvious (after the explanation) but have been misplaced in many of our churches today.
